I'M Umm Yahya (Binta)

Qur’an educator, certified relationship and mindset coach, and founder of Women of Qur’an Now.

Before every title, I am a servant of Allah subhanahu wa ta‘ala and a woman whose life has been deeply transformed by the Qur’an.

My own journey through loss, learning, healing, and growth shaped the work I do today. Through Women of Qur’an Now, I help believing women understand the Qur’an, understand themselves, and bring what they learn into their everyday lives.

Join me on a journey of Qur’anic understanding, meaningful self-discovery, and intentional growth.

MY STORY

My journey with the Qur’an began with a desire to understand my religion, but it deepened through one of the most painful experiences of my life.

In 2009, I gave birth to my son Yahya at 24 weeks. He lived for one day, and I held him as he took his final breaths. Watching my child return to Allah subhanahu wa ta‘ala caused me to ask myself a question I could no longer avoid: Was I ready to meet my Lord?

That loss changed the direction of my life. I enrolled in my first Islamic class, began wearing hijab, and developed a thirst for knowledge. When I entered my first Qur’an class, I did not even know the Arabic alphabet. By the permission of Allah subhanahu wa ta‘ala, I eventually became fluent in Qur’anic recitation and certified to teach the Qur’an with tajwīd.

The Qur’an became a source of guidance, healing, and transformation in my life. My desire to help other Muslim women experience that connection eventually led to the founding of Women of Qur’an Now.
